Craig Tester's team drilled this borehole with a 30-ton rig in Season 2 and recovered wood and cement-like material near 142 feet, thought to be the Chappell vault. The site was named Valley 3 in Season 4, when Irving Equipment sank a caisson to about 143 feet. Circular saw marks on the timbers led Dan Blankenship to identify them as wood from Mel Chappell's 1931 shaft.

Positions on the map are approximate; each dot marks the top of the hole.
