About This Coin
A copper coin with visible designs, recovered by metal detection expert Gary Drayton at Isaac's Point on the eastern shore of Oak Island during Season 5. Peter Fornetti was also searching the storm-eroded ground when the coin was found alongside a double woodcutter's axe dating to the early 1900s. Gary estimated the coin as 1700s vintage, possibly English or French, and it was sent off for cleaning and dating.
The results of the cleaning have not been reported on the series. Isaac's Point, on the island's eastern shore, has produced several other finds including a cut maravedi, musket balls, and a pickaxe head dated to the late 1700s or early 1800s.
