About This Coin

Two copper coins found in succession by Gary Drayton and Peter Fornetti while searching spoils removed from the circular stone feature on Lot 5 during Season 12. Gary picked up a hit and Peter dug out the first copper coin, followed shortly by a second signal that produced a second copper coin.

No expert analysis, cleaning, or identification was documented for these coins in the episode. The coins were found in the same spoils pile that had produced a cut silver coin the previous episode and would continue to yield buttons, lead artifacts, and other finds throughout the season. The round feature on Lot 5 has been one of the most artifact-rich excavation sites on the island.
