About This Structure

The Lot 30 rectangular structure is a geometric anomaly measuring approximately 100 by 150 feet, detected through a LIDAR survey conducted by Phoenix Aerial Productions in 2022. Dr. Ian Spooner reviewed the data and reported the findings to the Lagina team in Season 10 Episode 4, "Wharf And Pieces" (December 2022). Spooner concluded the rectangle was too geometric to be a natural formation and recommended investigation.

Jack Begley proposed that the feature could represent a camp associated with the ancient ship wharf identified on neighbouring Lot 32. Archaeologist Laird Niven recommended small hand-dug test trenches before any larger excavation. Rick Lagina, Laird Niven, and Helen Sheldon began digging test pits across the anomaly during the same episode.

The Lot 30 rectangular feature has not been revisited in any episode through Season 13. The test-pit results were not reported on screen, and no follow-up survey, excavation, or interpretation has been presented. The nature of the feature, whether a camp, a building foundation, an agricultural earthwork, or an unrelated geological pattern, has not been identified or dated.

This artifact is not the same as the rectangular feature on Lot 5, an early-modern stone cellar foundation that has been the subject of intensive excavation from Season 11 onwards. The Lot 5 and Lot 30 features are physically separate and unrelated in size, depth, and find context.
